The MDHHS Child and Adolescent Health Center Program Services are aimed at achieving the best possible physical, intellectual, and emotional status of adolescents by providing services that are high quality, accessible, and acceptable to youth. Included in the Child and Adolescent Health Program are three models of service delivery - clinical health centers, School Wellness Program and Behavioral Health Service models (E3 Sites).
What is Behavioral Health Service Model/E3 Site?
EXPANDING, ENHANCING EMOTIONAL HEALTH (E3) is defined as program located in a school or on school grounds that provides on-site comprehensive outpatient mental health services from mild to moderate severity of need.
Safe Haven
Les Cheneaux Community Schools partnered with LMAS District Health Department who obtained a Behavioral Health Service grant to provide a full-time licensed mental health counselor to our district. LMAS started the E3 site at LCCS in the fall of 2023 and it is called Safe Haven.
Safe Haven is Les Cheneaux Community Schools E3 Site, providing outpatient mental health therapy for mild to moderate children ages 5-26. Safe Haven’s fully licensed clinician is Jessica Potvin. Jessica Potvin has her Clinical -LMSW. She has been a school-based mental health professional through different roles throughout EUP school districts since 2016. She holds training/certifications for Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy (EDIT), Cognitive behavioral therapy, Harm reduction approach to addictions, Trauma-informed practices, and more.
Jessica is also the faculty Advisor of the youth advisory council. YAC is run out of our Safe Haven and is also under the umbrella of our community foundation.
What is YAC?
YAC stands for Youth Advisory Council. YACers are philanthropist in training. They are students who organize to create community projects and through endowments from the community foundation our youth grant out money into the community to local non-profits. The YAC as made a great impact on the community and is a direct demonstration on how connectedness to community is a huge protective factor for youth.
